About

Siniar [sɪ'ɴɪɑɾ] is a word in Indonesian language. It means, well, podcast. Which is weird, even ironic, to say the least. Podcast world is barely known in Indonesia. There are some of it, but the variation, style, let alone quality, are still far behind those in the rest of the world.

So yes, Siniar is a word for podcast. It's not an official word, but it has spread in the micro circle of active podcast makers and listeners in the country. I still don't know where the word came from, so far, the only eligible source I can find was from Ivan Lanin, a well-known master of Indonesian language. The reason I use this word that is strange even for the natives, is because I like the sound of it. And maybe, just maybe, it would someday help to open a bigger door of podcast understanding to Indonesian.

Because it's been a lonely time. Seemingly being the only Indonesian podcast fan has made me an outlier. Which is not really a very bad thing, I admit.

Twitter used to be my main source of gleeing and fandom-ing over podcasts. And even though the Twitter Lord has increase its character limit, it still not enough for me. And..I also suspicious that I'm kinda starting to annoy the non-pod friends of mine.

So be it Siniar Talks!

I'll outburst (part of) my rants in here. Reviews and talks would be as positive as I can be, since I can't bear to hurt the ridiculously sweet people of podcast community. This whole blog would be on amateur level, of course, since this is just a heavy fan sharing all her loves.

Enjoy.
